Zerah Yemilo Waminaje is the Political Desk Officer at the Nigeria High Commission in Kigali, a role she assumed in January 2025. Prior to this, she served in the ECOWAS National Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS) desk officer from 2023 – 2025.

Her diplomatic career also includes a posting as Second Secretary at the Nigerian Embassy in Greece (2022) and within the Crisis Monitoring and Public Communications Division (Office of the Spokesperson) from 2019 to 2022. She began her diplomatic career in 2017 as a Third Secretary in the Office of the Honourable Minister, gaining firsthand experience in high-level policy coordination.

Before joining the Nigerian Foreign Service, she was an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Bingham University, Nasarawa state from 2016 – 2017.

She holds an M.A. in International Relations and Democratic Politics from the University of Westminster, London (2016) and a B.Sc. in Political Science and Public Administration (2013) from Igbinedion University Okada, Nigeria.

She is committed to promoting Nigeria’s interests through diplomacy, by building networks, cultivating partnerships and active engagement in both bilateral and multilateral forums.
