Ambassador Ibrahim G. Zanna is a seasoned diplomat whose illustrious career span three decades. His unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s national interests, coupled with his exceptional leadership qualities, has solidified his reputation as a highly respected figure in the international arena.

Throughout his career, Ambassador Zanna has consistently demonstrated a keen understanding of global diplomacy and a deep-seated dedication to public service. His strategic acumen and diplomatic finesse have been instrumental in advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and enhancing the nation’s global standing.

From 2007 to 2017, Ambassador Zanna served in the State Protocol at the Office of the President, where he played a pivotal role in orchestrating high-level diplomatic engagements and received a Presidential Commendation Letter in 2016. His meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence ensured that Nigeria’s leaders were represented with the utmost dignity and professionalism on the international stage.

His dedication to protecting Nigerian citizens abroad was exemplified during his tenure as Minister/Chief of Protocol at the Nigeria High Commission London from 2019 to 2021. In the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic, he spearheaded efforts to evacuate over 2,300 stranded Nigerians, earning him a well-deserved Special Commendation for Outstanding Performance in Public Service in 2022.

Ambassador Zanna’s exceptional diplomatic acumen and leadership skills were further showcased during the Inauguration Ceremony of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in May 2023. As Chief of Protocol in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he played a crucial role in coordinating the event, which hosted over 70 world leaders and dignitaries.

From March – December 2024, Ambassador Zanna served as Director II in the Office of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs. His ability to foster strong relationships with both domestic and foreign counterparts, coupled with his unwavering integrity, has enabled him to navigate complex diplomatic challenges with ease.

Currently serving as the Acting High Commissioner at the Nigeria High Commission in Kigali, Rwanda, Ambassador Zanna continues to make significant contributions to Nigeria’s foreign policy.

His extensive experience in representing Nigeria at international conferences and summits, including the International Seabed Authority (ISA) African Group Workshop, UN Climate Change Conference, Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, United Nations General Assembly, African Union Summit, World Economic Forum, and numerous binational summits and joint commissions, has solidified his reputation as a seasoned diplomat and strategic thinker.
